Let us Provide Service and generate more revenue.
Revenue generation through multiple means is a very good idea.
Information Service
I would like to make most of the form thread details be accessible to members who had paid at least $100 or enrolled for recursive $20/month. We should make the thread heading very attractive and make it accessible to public. Core members should review all the thread headings, I think they are already doing it now. I can volunteer to this activity. I do have 8 years of experience in studying US immigration law, though I am not a lawyer, with my experience I can be of some guidance.
Provide advertisement (Ad), like we see top, right side and bottom page Ad in hotmail, yahoo etc. Apart from the flash, images Ads, we should also do Google text Ads. Flash Ad could be charged based on the space, number of page hits. Google pays 25 cents per click on the hyperlink for the text Ad. I had managed a project, which implemented the feature. I am sure we have lot of technical experts and get this implemented, very well.
Corporate Sponsorship
If a corporation sponsors money then most probably there will be some tax advantage. I do know IVs tax code. Consulting companies could pay IV from our company account.
Physicians
We can identify all our physician members and provide help for members and their parents in need. In turn the members who had taken help could contribute to IVs good cause, in terms of funds, taking part in activities, etc. Hi the concept is very simple, if you had gone to a doctor, you will end up spending 2 hr waiting to see the doctor and then pay 150 to talk to them for 15 min. We will help you and intern you help us, or may be help yourself if you are a person going through the GC process. I can take initiative for this task, my wife is a physician and I know 20 other doctors who are in the GC process.
Disclaimer
Our IV admin should make standard disclaimers like, the information provided may have error, and the members should always consult lawyers for accurate information, the thread details are intended to be an approximate guidance.
This should be part of our terms and conditions, while we register new members. It should also be part of the page footer, the text should be in red color.
Action Item
I would like to set up a conference today 9:10 PM (EST), Thursday Feb 15th 2007. Please reply to this tread if you have more ideas. Please do mention if any of you are interested in participating in todays phone conference. I will also arrange for another conference during this weekend if necessary.
I will call IVs core members to discuss this activity and based on their recommendations I will confirm the conference and the details like phoning number and access code.
My fellow members please note that we need to be more active and innovative to achieve our target (GC). I appreciate all our members for taking part in IV.

When it comes to immigration matters, my mantra is safe than sorry. I would still make the trip to the CBP office and get a date noted on the I-94. This way if you want to extend their stay, etc you will be covered.
I second that statement. Moreover, this gives you the peace of mind knowing that somebody at CBP won't screw up entering the I-94 info when your parents surrender this at the airline or give a hard time for a lack of date on the I-94 when your parents want to travel again.

1. Legally speaking he has to leave immeditely. But INS is not inhuman in those cases. If he finds a job within a few weeks he should be ok unless his previous company cancels H1b.
2. At least he has to get some H1B before his previous company cancels H1b. for transfering H1b.
3. If his previous company does not cancel H1b he can stay some time may be 1 or 2 months(But he will be out of status not overstay). If his company cancels H1b then that will be overstay then he has to leave the country. Best thing is find a consulting company and file H1b transfer before previous company cancels H1b. If that is not possible he can switch to F1 if he gets admission in University.
4. Recent paystub is needed to transfer H1b. If recent paystub is not there then it is INS dicretion to give H1b transfer
Those answers may not be accurate but may give some idea
Hi,
One of my friends got fired from a company and the company made him to sign a document that he was resigning. This guy somehow signed it so that he could get his salary. The employer eventually paid him the salary after signing the resignation document.
Few questions about his H1B visa.
1. How many days can he legally stay in the US before he finds one more job gets new H1B.
2. Can he transfer his H1B visa to a new company or does he need to apply for a new H1B visa (which is within the cap)?
3. Incase if he doesn't find a job within the legally permitted time, what are his options apart from going back?
4. Will he have any problem when he tries to transfer his H1B after the legally permitted time?
I would really appreciate if anyone can please help me with this questions.
Thank you very much!

I have come to the realization that there is not much difference between illegals and legals. Both are victims of a system that does not have the capacity to assimilate them.
No one - press, congress, ordinary citizen or restrictionist - differentiates between legal and illegal immigrants. This is not surprising because the SOP is to somehow move illegal immigrants into the legal immigration system so that they are eventually treated as legal immigrants. In some cases like with CIR or Washington state's in-state tuition for illegals (but not for H or L), the system actively encourages people to qualify for benefits through the illegal stream.
Of course everyone must decide what they want to do. The I-94 states that penalty for unauthorized work is deportation. You have to decide if that matters to you based on a) whether you want to stay in the US and b) whether you believe you will be allowed to stay even if you follow all the rules

I got same audit in september as well
the guy came in to my desk and took pictures and i was asked to show my pay stubs
then they went to my hr and asked all questions
on being asked he said its the normal procedure
so no big deal , pls make sure if they coem to your office you should atleast have a copy of your paystubs
How can they come to your desk randonmly and ask for pay stubs? Nobody carries paystubs to work everyday. Are these raids authorized by USCIS. Is there a memo that mentions this from USCIS.

Waste of time. How many PhD's are there as compared to the others? There is already EB1/EB2-NIW for them
EB1A/EB1B/EB2NIW still consume visa numbers.

Hi All,
Just posting my experience of traveling on AP as a reference for others:
I traveled to Japan on a business visit with all 3 copies of my AP , and on return stood in the normal visitor line. When I came up to the officer, he said I should go to the "new immigrants" line, since only those officers have the necessary parole stamps.
In the other line, the officer said it was good that I brought all three copies, since they stamp all three, keep one original for themselves and return two back. The next time I travel, they will stamp the two I have, keep one and return one to me. After that, they will stamp the one original I have left, and make copies for themselves.
The officer did not ask any special questions, except which city I stay in, the rest of it was just chit-chat.
Simple process, no hassles.
Enjoy!
thanks for sharing the experience. One more question: which port-of-entry was this at? Interesting that it all completed at the main counter, many people ended up in secondary inspection when they used the AP.

It is too early to tell if it definitely refers to us, but it is more likely that this IS referring to EB and naturalization background checks. Reasoning is like this - Background checks are required by Department of State (DOS) for issuing Visas. Department of homeland security (DHS) under which USCIS comes is responsible for those within the US. Now background checks are not conducted for issuing H1B visa etc. They are only for EB/N-400. So it is more likely they are referring us. Secondly, just two months back USCIS announced that it is going through Ombudsman's report and would be preparing a response. Last month FBI's miller came out and suggested they are happy with main file checks (which take less than 2 days to come back automatically) and USCIS is insisting of doing reference file checks and they would be keen to work with USCIS to find ways of reducing backlog processing times. Some options included they way background checks are done, and also borrowing workers from USCIS for FBI's NNC unit. Finally, when the fee increase was announced USCIS mentioned some of the money would go to reduce processing times and FBI asked for increasing the name check fee from $2 to $9 which means now that the fees increase has been implemented more resources to reduce time may be implemented.
With scores of cases against USCIS and thousands of letters to congressmen and president and articles in NYT and WS Times, finally they may have realized that it is time they attended to the background check delays issue.

In fiscal year 2006, there were 5 Indian firms in the top 10 users of H1B visa.
http://www.networkworld.com/community/?q=node/15273
However, when it comes to PERM filing there is only 1 Indian company in the top 10 list of PERM filers. That is very interesting. Does it mean that Indian companies do not encourage or support GC process as much as the American companies do? I sure hope that's not the case and employees of those Indian companies are getting a fare shot at the Greencard.

I had very very bad experience in Mumbai. I had lost my all documents except passport .Keep ur Documents all the time with you no matter what situation would be. Look for good safe hotel don’t go after chip hotel. One more thing keep all your valuables in secured place.
At consulate experience was pleasant.
This case u described is common and applicable to any city in world/India so please dont single out Mumbai. It is a fine city.

hemasar....dont give wrong information. Just becuse your colleague said that he got it does not make it a law. Please be prudent in providing correct legal information!
I am just sharing the information of one who got this experience. I am not claiming that is the law. None of us are attorneys. We are not giving any legal advice here. We are just sharing our knowledge and experience. What ever legal suggestions you provide here; are you taking any responsibility for that? No right? Just we are sharing our concerns, knowledge and experience. If you have any solid evidence that says USCIS will accept chest X-ray only after +/- skin test please share with us.
Thanks.
