It is always an option for any one with in their org, but if his point is wrong, then IV core leadership should prove him that they are not sitting idle or moving very very slow.
Every one starting their own organization or asking to do so doesn't solve the purpose.
Why cant he start an initiative and take it to completion and show everybody that he can do something. IV is for everybody just complaining wouldn't take us far. :confused:

I don't know much about the process, I just came to America less than 1 year back, but I know my lawyer was supposed to mail application to reach on July 2, 2007 instead he made a mistake to reach on June 29, 2007 because he said July 1, 2007 was a Sunday so he would rather be early than late. USCIS accepted and receipted me.

(Remember, you have to exclude all foreign students from US universities and only include US born citizens in the population of American engineers. Why? Because all foreign students would need H1 to work here, just the same as a student in a Indian/Chinese university. To avoid 'double counting' basically) So how do we compare apples to apples? How do we compare "number of good engineers in US" vs "number of good engineers in China/India"? It is very hard to do that via a survey, if not impossible. It does not make a difference to America, if a few hundred thousand foreign workers get their GCs today or 10 years later. The people America would really be concerned about are outstanding researchers, but then these people fall in the EB1 category which is always current and so they have no cause for complaint. The other category that the US is concerned about is cheap and illegal labor, but that is not related to GCs. So in short, there is nothing about the Eb2/Eb3 GC backlog that America needs to worry about.
The delay causes anxiety & frustration only for us applicants. So the impact is only on us.

I think it is a good idea..Everyone should write to local Congressman/Women senator detailing the case and asking Why it is taking so much time to process the AOS.
They will come back with standard answer like country quota etc..BUT
This will create awareness among the lawmakers..
I would say we should start with local congressional office. Every case whether it is resolved or not should be taken to the attention of local congressional office.
If members volunteer to do this, we could distribute districts among ourselves and take care of each district's congressional office. In that way we could raise the awareness among the lawmakers. I do agree that not every office will be friendly to immigrants like my district's congressional office, but we have to try.

That contradicts US Embassy provisions of H1 stamping, when you first go for the visa interview. Doesn't the US Embassy/Consulate state that you should be able to prove your intent NOT to abandon your country of origin, show you family ties, financial connections. Am I right? I can give a ton of links from US Consulate web sites with those exact words.
Now, what you are talking is dual intention: get H1B visa and get on the permanent residence highway, at the earliest opportunity.
It's OK to start with an empty kitty in SS and Medicare account, just when are about to get your Green Card than to walk back to your country losing 10 to 20 grand of your own money after 6 or 7 years. Uncle Sam should not collect SS Tax and Medicare from temporary workers. Period.

The difference is that AOS is handled by USCIS and the CP is done by DOS. It is the USCIS which ran out of the 60000 visas (supposedly) before July 1st even though DOS opened those numbers up for the entire July.
Now, DOS is saying to USCIS " you guys used your quota even before the rush started and so, we won't give you any more visa numbers but, we will continue to honor our quota via CP which we accounted for July". Just my interpretation. Don't shoot the messenger ;)
