This should answer MOST of the people's questions about this tax stimulus plan. Single (or) Married, have SSN or ITIN, you can find the answers by reading the following. (Cut/pasted from IRS website).

Yesterday I went to the Local INS office after making an infopass appointment. Requested the IO to expedite my AP he looked at current processing dates for Nebraska Center Aug 15 I applied on July 20 INS process date on receipt notice August 25. He told me they would start looking at my case soon. I mentioned to him I need it expedited he asked why I showed him a letter from employer that I needed to travel outside us he said its not life death emergency. I insisted that if i didn't go I would get fired lose my job, he wait let me check with manager after 20 minutes he came back and said his manager agrees to process as emergency. He took all my original supporting documents and told me he was going to fax them to Nebraska center and also email to them. I mentioned to him that I have to leave by Feb 11 again he went to his manager and he said thats the best I can do. He took my phone number. I have not heard for INS no LUD on my case yet. If i don't leave by feb 17 kiss my job good bye. Anything else you guys recommend i can do. I also faxed the Nebraska center a request expedite still haven't hear or seen anything. :(

I have a suggestion! I don't think forcing monthly $25 contribution to keep donor status alive is a very good idea, especially in current economy. Take an example of myself. It is decided that I am going to loose job on 17th March, may not be able to contribute every month. Rethink!

But I support this initiative. Just see the FOIA thread. We could not even pool up 5K and there are at least 5000 members out of which at least 500 active users.
Unless there is some intiative like this, it will be impossible for pushing any lobbying activities. There are many people who wants every thing free.

For your information, i have contributed to IV monetarily. It just does not show up on the handle for some reason i do not know.
So you are looking for motivation? Your post do not indicate that you are looking for motivation. There are those who are undecided or who cannot find enough energy/motivation to do something, and those people need motivation. You don't fall in that category. You are pretty much convinced that you don't belong here. Now you are just spoiling the environment to make sure that others all leave looking at you and mad-dog bickering. And one need not be a rocket scientist to figure that out. Its obvious. There goes your flag for "award for motivation". What's next, you need a shoulder to cry?

I see that a lot of us feel really stuck because of the long GC process and yet we continue to wait. Eventually we all want to have:
1. Freedom to switch jobs
2. Freedom to start businesses
3. Freedom to travel
4. Freedom to have spouse working
I hope and pray that it comes thru sooner than later for all of us. Let's say you get your GC in 1-2-x years. How many years after that would you go back? 2-3 or wait till you get US citizenship? Would you give up the GC after having spent 5+ years waiting and maybe a total of 8-10+ years in US?
For those of us who are thinking that I want to go back eventually, what steps do you plan to take once you get your GC? The reason I raise this question is, it was easy to adapt to a new place when you were young. 6-10 years later (and a couple of kids later :-) what are some of the things you intend to do make your transition homewards easier? Has anyone considered taking on positions with significant travel to India(or your home country) so that you can get accustomed to the lifestyle/work environment/business back home?

thats why aila lawsuit is important, if they can bend the rules for consular processing and a lot of other mischief for eating up 60k visas then they can bend there rules for giving us EAD as well when bulletin is revised.
See what I was saying. They are not supposed to grant CP appointments and approvals in July per the regulations. They have decided to bend the rules to approve the currently pending 485s and CPs. They came up with this lame excuse that since the visas were already shipped out to the consular posts ................yada yada. Point is as I said they can't do 18K CP applicatrions in a day at the consulates the way they seem to have done for the 485s. Even this I am not sure.
I doubt whether they have sent out all 60K 485 approvals either, they probably will in the course of the next month or thereabouts.
I'll say it again, they want 485s out but they don't want them in for whatever reason. It is getting clearer.

Most of the Indian companies (TCS, Wipro, Infy, etc) have more than 50% H1Bs, I believe.
They will bring/hire more resources to near shore (if not onsite) Brazil/Canada to satisfy clients...This year the demand for H1b is around 25K.... next year that may go down to 10-15K... good for future EB -AOS applicants.. :-)

If u applied 485 in June 07 u might have already been alloted a visa number...Call uscis to find out...A nicer IO may give u some details abt your case

I applied AP in Jan 4th 2008. Last week on 13th there was a LUD on AP. Today the status changed to "Document Mailed to applicant". Based on your experiences does this means RFE or Approval. BTW i belong to Nebraska Service Center.

I believe that means the AP is on it's way. And you had a superfast turnaround time! I applied for AP on November 6'th, and my status changed to "Document Mailed to applicant" on March 17'th. Nebraska certainly seems to have a sort of LIFO policy rather than FIFO.
I still haven't received my documents either. I will wait a few more days before bugging my lawyer.
