This would suck for older priority dates.
My priority date is March, 2002!! Application was delivered to Nebraska on June 15th but the Receipt date is in mid-July.
So all those filers with priority dates after me (did not come across any with PD older than mine) that got their receipt notices before me would jump ahead in line!! Who knows how many years more...
Hopefully they will change their procedure after this fiasco to go by Priority Dates first and then the receipt dates.

In the past, we have sent emails and webfaxes to senators only to get canned- pre typed responses. Recently, I have realised that senators favour written letters, posted (with postage stamp) especially if it comes from constituents from their state. Same with house reps. I have talked to my senator's staff and they have advised me to write a letter. The staff member said, letters are always read, and responded.
Senator will send an inquiry to the appropriate agency. This will create an impact, if all of us write letters. I have written a letter about USCIS Visa- flip flop to my senators.

Hi Friends, I went to DMV PA (Bridgevile) to renew my drivers license recently. They are not accepting original EAD/ AP, copy of 485 receipt plus employer letter. They are asking for original 485 receipt. Unfortunately my ex-employer did not give the original receipt.
Did any body renew the PA DL without original 485 receipt?

The calculations below is not to scare anyone but it may very well a reality. Based on the assumptions below, some people may have to wait up to 20 months to get a EAD card: Ouch!
A Total I-485 Applicants: 750000 Applicants
B Each EAD processing time: 5 Minutes
C Total processing hrs: 62500 Hours
(Calculations: AxB/60)
D Daily productive Hours: 5 Hours
(It is a government body!)
E Total Man Days (Business Days): 12500 Man Days
(Calculations: C/D)
F EAD Workforce: 30 People
G Total Business Days: 417 Days
(Calculations: E/F)
H Average Business Days in a month: 21 Days
I Total Clearing Time : 20 Months
(Calculations: G/I)
I will cut no of EAD applications to 600,000.

But you are absolutely right. If they dont add temp resources with this extra revenue, we will be waiting for atleast an year to get EAD and AP.

As EB1 is Cureent, presume processing applications up date, EB3 is Unavailable, means no work to do for USCIS people as far as EB3 Adjudicate cases, leave EB4, EB5 categories aside which dont have many applications to process. Then the only category left for working with is EB2 and that also having ROW being current, the adjuticate applications left for processing with available visa numbers are EB2 India for time being. So this means for the next few months including this June 2008 there might be many approvals in
EB2 India category, as because theres no considerable work in EB category for USCIS people except EB2 India Adjudication. So presumably all the available visa numbers will be processed effectively in the EB2 category for the fical year.

H1 status ends once u start using EAD (This happens after u file I9 with employer) Once you start working using EAD card, you cannot maintain h1b status at the same time.

i just returned from an infopass meeting... the guy i talked to said that they recently have a directive from the DHS/USCIS that they want to separate the legal stuff from the illegal stuff and hence they are planning to adjudicate a record number of EB apps in the next quarter or two... does anyone else concur? is this true or were my ears just ringing in that meeting?

I have EB3 Nob/04 with I40 approved and AOS in progress.
Apllied EB2 10 months ago and got labor (6 months prep + 3 months in filling) + I140 approved (in 2 days)
with prem processing.
I'm also in the same boat as others, not clear as to what one has to do for porting/interfilling, I will let the attorney decide if he/she needs to submit a request or it will be automatically linked to the current 485.
Please keep us updated on your progress which is more helpful than attorneys and SOPs followed by USCIS, thanks.

You both are right. It is definitely not about quitting or winning, it is making the best decision in cognizance to your career and life goals. For some it might be fighting the EB cause, for some it might just be moving to Cananda or India. Either way, life is as such is supposed to be a rolling stone, most of the mass we carry is just a burden that comes in our way of experiencing true happiness and joy.
Did you ever hear the proverb "quitters never win" and winners never quit.
Quit here go to Canada and then face some problems there and then quit canada. And then you will become the rolling stone which gathers no mass. Your family will be sick of your shifting then and no stabilization will cause more issues.
A friend of mine told me this one evening when I was really frustrated and was planning to quit my dream on being an entrepreneur and here I am now, and I think where I am right now is for the reason that I didn't quit that day and finally my product was liked by a company and they bought the product and offered me a job as well and then one thing lead to another and now I am settled with what I always wanted to do ( kinda not 100%) but its ok.

Thanks Milind for the inspiration. I too echo your words of success to the rally. I would request the state chapter leaders to get together on weekends once or twice a month to keep the momentum going.
